ARCHIVE OF FUTURE SOLIDARITIES

a project by Irène Mélix (artist) and Volkshaus Cotta

supported by the City of Dresden, Konglomerat e.V. and Künstlerbund Dresden

The Archive of Future Solidarities explores with neighbourhoods in western Dresden how we can live together more solidarily as neighbours in times of increasing social polarisation, realities drifting further apart and growing loneliness. Sometimes, it doesn’t take much to connect with one another. Sometimes, supporting each other requires a great deal of effort – but it is always worth it for the sake of living together better.

The project opens up a conversation and invites us to imagine how things could be different:

What gestures would make living together in our neighbourhoods more enjoyable? What does neighbourhood solidarity mean to you? What small or large action could you imagine taking to change everyday life? What kind of interaction with your neighbours would you like to see?

The responses gathered from the neighbourhood will be printed on flags and posters in collaboration with neighbourhood initiatives at Volkshaus Cotta, then brought back into the neighbourhood. By the end of the year, they will appear throughout the urban spaces of western Dresden!

Please take part and share your voice! Send your responses by 20 November 2026 to archivzukunft@irenemelix.de, via postcard to Volkshaus Cotta, or on Instagram to @irenemelix. Become part of this collective reflection!
